Devin was 1 for 3 hitting, pitched a scoreless inning, and played 3 innings of excellent defense to help the Goldenwest League destroy the Orange League 11-1. If you ever failed an academic class or are currently failing a class summer is the time to make it up. Good Morning Lions!   E – Engage in school culture.   SBAC testing for juniors begins next week, Juniors are to report to their testing rooms by 7:45 AM on Tuesday, May 16th, and Wednesday May 17th. Next week, the tests focus on English Language Arts. Testing Room lists will be posted on Monday outside the Main Office. All 9th, 10th, and 12th grade students begin school at 10:37 for Zero Period and 11:08 for Period 1. Students with work schedules, please plan accordingly with your employers due to the later class times for periods 4, 5, and 6.   The Westminster City Council is currently seeking qualified applicants to serve on the Youth Committee. If you care about your community and wish to offer input this may be just the opportunity you have been waiting for. Good Morning Lions!   E – Engage in school culture.   In yesterday’s Track and Field action our girls varsity defeated Loara with a 80-55 score with 4 first place performances by Anusia Edward and Alex Jsames along with other race winners Diane Tran, Jacklynn Tran, Alexa Perez and Gisella Pacheco. Just to keep things fun The JV team won 89-36 to stay undefeated on the season. In Boys Track our varsity lost the final race and with that a close meet to Loara despite wins by Leon Dang, Eric Vasquez, Jonathan Nguyen, Carlos Velazquez, Joseph Bui, Richard Nguyen and Sergio Vega. The JV team put up a 77-34 win to remain undefeated and the F/S won 86-36. Nice job Lions!   Hey SWAG winners—Based on March’s winners, five of you have won again. The JV girls and boys both were victorious, with the Varsity boys dropping a close one to the Seahawks. Good Morning Lions!   R – Read and write daily. On Saturday our drum line placed 1st at the Southern California Percussion Alliance Show at Colony HS. This is the first time ever to place at a SCPA Event, congrats to them for this accomplishment. On Saturday our JV and Varsity Color Guards performed 2 strong performances at the Winterguard Association of So Cal show at Valencia HS with Varsity placing 3rd going into championships and JV placing 6th in their division. On Sunday the Varsity Guard continued their success at the Rancho Cucamonga Show with a 4th place finish, we look forward to championships in 3 weeks and hope that both or at least one of the groups will perform here at our venue for championships.   Students! Good Morning Lions!   E –Engage in school culture.   In Yesterday’s Track and Field action our boys varsity defeated Bolsa Grande 82-44 with 1st place performances by Joseph Bui, Chris Reyes, Leon Dang, Issaac Barrera and Segio Vega. The JV team needed the final race of the day to pull off a 3 point win and the Frosh/Soph team cruised to an 80-23 victory. On the Girls side the 1st place varsity wins went to Alex Jsames (Juh-sames), Vanessa Campos and Baysia Ordaz. This team still has some events to fill so come join the fun. The Lions used their speed to force 23 steals, a Lions Playoff record, and tame the Huskies from South Hills. Senior Tylor Pham led the team with 18 points and 5 steals. The afternoon started off with a victory for our pride of youngest Lady Lions 56-30. Soon after our JV won by a score of 50-26. Senior Matt Nguyen led the charge with 19 points and Senior Tylor Pham and Freshman Joshua Lee kept pace with 13 points respectively. It was a great game with onside kicks, blocked extra points, smashing defense and an offensive shootout that resulted in going down to the game’s final play in the Lions heartfelt 47-39 loss to the Knights. Josh Avila rushed for 160 yard and 2 touchdowns along with scores by Noah Melbon, Jacob McGookin and Isayah Anderson. Antonio Olea scored a 2-point extra point to go with 4 extra points by Carlos Rocha to add to a 25-yard field goal. The team and staff would like to thank the band, cheer, students and staff for their wonderful support this season. On their opening drive running back Ivan Cortes went in for an 8 yard TD. adding to the 20-6 win was George Lopez, and an End Zone Catch by Justin Grey. Wide Receiver Jose Diaz had a crucial 23 yard reception on a 4th and 12. Defense held the panther 3 times inside our own 2 yard line. The offensive line went crazy and Malachi Mesa ran for 153 yards and a touchdown and also threw a touchdown to Chris Samilton. Irving Rosete threw 2 touchdowns to Natan Da Silva and Christian Jamie scored 2 running the ball. Malachi Mesa also had a touchdown and an interception but the play of the day was a 35-yard punt return by Victor Andraca who knocked over the Sentinels as though they were bowling pins on his way for the first touchdown of the day. Good Morning Lions!   E – Engage in school culture.   In last night’s Football action our varsity team opened up the offense with 600 yards and a 47-20 win over Magnolia. Quarterback Noah Melton threw for 300 yards and 5 touchdowns with 2 touchdowns to Antonio Olea and 3 more to Isayah Anderson who had 4 touchdowns on the night. In a rare crosstown loss for the Lions the team hung in until the end and had the lead until the final minute of the game.
