Community Colleges

Preparing for Community College will start November 30, 2015

Students can start applying to GWC, OCC & CCC starting on November 30, 2015
  • About mid February students can come into the Career Center and sign up for the SOAR, assessment test. The assessment test measures what level of class in math and English you will start taking at the community college. It is to your benefit to do the best you can on this test. The better you do, the higher level the class you can start in and the less math and English classes you have to take in college.
  • Students must have a college ID# BEFORE they can sign up to take the placement test..
  • After the test they will mail you your test results and give you an orientation date where you have to go down there to the community college to get information.
  • After the orientation, you will be given a registration date when you can actually sign up for classes. It is my suggestion that you start early and take a summer school class to get your name into the system sooner. This will give you priority registration in the fall semester.
  • Other than that, we will have two Senior Field Trips to GWC and OCC in March, Sign ups will be in the Career Center . Make sure you are listening for the announcements
Note to students: Students can start college early by taking a class at GWC, OCC, or Coastline Community College at night while they are still in high school.  See Mrs. Garcia, school counselor to get the  Part-time Early Start Programs release form.
