AP Chemistry is a course equivalent to a two-semester college general chemistry course. It covers the four general areas of structure of matter, states of matter, reactions, and descriptive chemistry. There is a strong laboratory component to the course. Students will be expected to be able to solve algebraic expressions, and be comfortable with logarithmic and exponential functions. The national AP Chemistry exam is offered in May to allow students the opportunity to qualify for college credit and/or advanced placement at the college they will attend.
