The Parent Institute for Quality Education is off to its best start in 10 years at WHS.  The average participation over the past few years has been between 120-150 parents.  In 2011, approximately 220 parents attended the Parent Institute Orientation.  We also had enough parents to hold a class in English.  The first workshop held 17 English speaking parents, almost five times better than the our previous record.

We are offering six “phase-one” classes in three different languages: one in English, two in Vietnamese and three in Spanish, and one “phase-two” class in Spanish.  Phase-one is for parents who have not attended the high school level classes from the Parent Institute, and phase-two is for parents who have already completed phase one.

“He thanked the parents for their sacrifice and for modeling the importance of education to our students, and told them he would see them again at their graduation.”

The morning class had the opportunity to meet the new HBUHSD Superintendent, Dr. Greg Plutko, during his visit to Westminster High School on September 21. He thanked the parents for their sacrifice and for modeling the importance of education to our students, and told them he would see them again at their graduation.

The Parent Institute at WHS will continue until November 16, 2011.  Interested parents can still attend and can get more information by contacting anyone in the Title I/PELL Office.
