Good Morning Lions!   P – Prepare for college and career.   In Saturday’s Track and Field action 28 schools met in the Earl Engman Relays and our Lions scorched the Track for 35 1st places and a total of 101 medals. The Lions ended up in 2nd place for the boys and were led by Tadan Smith, Paul Nguyen, Zanetti Nen, Tommy Nguyen and Fernando Roman. Our Girls team saw multiple first places each to Sophia and Emily Nguyen, Ashtyn Arthur Joceline Garcia, Zaydee Solis and Thanh Danh.   HEY LIONS! It’s time to pick your senior class best. Boys Varsity Basketball plays Tonight 7pm at Fountain Valley in round 1 of the CIF southern section playoffs. There will be a rooter bus leaving WESTMINSTER at 6pm for all of our Lion Friends and Family. The cost to ride the bus and get into the game is $8. Single Tickets to the game are $5 for students and $8 for adults.   Yesterday, you may have seen some students around school wearing way too many medals. That’s our OCAD team that made it to state for the 14th year in a row! The team earned 3rd Place out of 40 other schools, collected 28 medals, and 4 decathletes placed in the top 10 and earned scholarships. Catherine Ha earned 8th Place, Martin Nguyen earned 7th Place, Vicki Bui earned 3rd Place and a $700 scholarship, and Dylan Slayton earned 2nd Place and an $800 scholarship. Good Morning Lions!   E – Engage in school culture.   Congratulations to Jose Robles for advancing to the California State PTA Level in the Reflections program “Look Within”. Jose’s music composition was presented at the 4th District Reflections Gallery on February 1st. Way to go, Jose!   In last night’s Soccer action our girls JV won by a 3-1 score and then was followed by the Varsity explosion as Sophia Nguyen set the school record by scoring 6 consecutive goals in the Lions 9-0 win over Western. Joceline Garcia had a goal and Jordan Galvin 2 goals and 4 assists along with multiple assists by Zoe Sarun, Michelle Campos and Leyla Flores. The Boys and Girls JV and Frosh/Soph all won the league meet and league championships. Good Morning Lions!   E – Engage in school culture.   Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Track and Field team with their stunning 68-67 victory over Godinez as they and Boys JV remain undefeated on the season. The girls were led by Sophia Nguyen, Carolyn Putman, Carolynn Tran, Emily Nguyen and Vivian Nguyen for their 1st place victories. In a stunning loss the Girls JV lost for the 1st time in 9 years an only needed 1 race to win the meet. Great effort girls.   In the Boys’ Track and Field action our hurdle crew swept both events, but our varsity lost their 1st meet of the year only needing to win one more event to avoid the loss to Godinez. Good Morning Lions!   P – Prepare for college and career.   On Friday night our Symphonic Band earned unanimous Superior ratings from adjudicators at the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Festival held at Santa Ana HS. On Sunday our drum line placed 5th at Colony HS, the JV Color Guard placed 4th in Scholastic AAA and our Varisty Color Guard placed first again in Scholastic A at Fountain Valley HS. In all our team brought home not only 101 individual medals, but the 2nd place trophy for our girl’s team and the 1st place trophy for the boy’s. Good Morning Lions!   E – Engage in school culture.   Congratulations to the Track and Field team who opened up with a boys varsity win of 91-30 over Bolsa Grande. 1st place winners were Ivan Cortes, Omar Garcia, Paul Nguyen, Mason Dupler, Quincy Velazquez, Hai Le, and Cristian Uriostegui. The Frosh/soph team won 71-36 and the boys JV crushed the Matadors 112-9.   Congratulations to the Girls varsity Track team as they won by a 78-46 score with 1st place finishers Carolyn Putnam, Carolynn Tran, Emily Nguyen, Aiayna DeGiacomo, Alex Jsames, Alexa Perez and Zaydee Solis.
