ABOUT WATER POLO
Water Polo is exciting and challenging. There are 6 field players and 1 goalie per team. Teams try to score goals on each other by throwing a ball into the opponent’s goal at respective ends of the pool. The concept is comparable to soccer, yet the positioning and plays are similar to basketball.
Beyond learning a new sport, student-athletes will learn skills which will prepare them for life beyond high school and athletics. As an active member of the program, they will highly encouraged to succeed academically while developing commitment, communication, and time management skills. Athletes will learn to work together as a team but given plenty of leadership opportunities. Good sportsmanship, class and respect are expected from each athlete. As a program, we volunteer and participate in activities to give back to our community, build resumes and increase knowledge.
We are here to help! Our coaching staff is experienced and knowledgeable about the sport and techniques required for participation in competition. We are here to assist anyone who wants to join and is willing to learn. You do not need any previous swimming or water polo experience to join the program. Our coaching staff will teach and develop technical, tactical, mental and physical skills needed to participate. Swimming strokes, sport-related motions, and techniques will be taught alongside team coordination plays.
Boys compete during Fall (August-October) and girls during Winter (November-February). Many of our water polo player make up the swim team in the Spring. We also host a summer camp for our athletes and incoming freshman.
