
The Westminster High School MERITS program is proud to announce that five students have been nationally recognized by the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) for their achievements and advocacy in computing and technology.
NCWIT’s mission is to increase the meaningful participation of all women in computing through research, resources, and action-oriented programs. Each year, the organization honors high school and collegiate students across the country who demonstrate technical excellence, innovation, and leadership in expanding access to technology.
This year, Westminster MERITS students earned national recognition for both their computing projects and their efforts to advocate for technology education:

In addition, MERITS alum Teresa Nguyen (Class of 2023) was recognized as one of just 63 National Finalists for the 2026 NCWIT Collegiate Award, highlighting the continued impact of Westminster students beyond high school.
Regional NCWIT award recipients will be announced in March, and Westminster anticipates additional student recognition.
